Which program will start up depends on what program you let register the file extensions. First try some (MP3 is our favorit) and if it doesnt go the way you want check the players preferences. Players often automatically keep re-registering the file extensions they can handle, you want to switch that OFF in ALL players and mark/unmark manually which extensions you want them to react on and which not.

MP3 Player mostly starts WinAmp, I-Tunes, Audion and alike. Win Media the Windows Media player, RealMedia the Real player. Alternative uses the PlayLiSt format, also supported by many players.
  
On a dialup modem select 32k speed, if you experience a lot of buffering (gaps) step back to 18k. The 160k links are only for hi speed connections like cable and adsl.
